Queen of the Sea

Created June 2010

Inspiration- I was looking through an antique children's book of my daughters and fell in love with the whimsical sea horses.  From there the image of a queen riding a fanciful boat began to develope.

Technique-  Here are some photo's of the process:

 

I had to make her body in two parts because she was too big to fit in the oven.

I made a paper versionof the boat to use as a pattern to be sure she fit in it.

Wire armature for the back of the boat.

I hung all kinds of creatures from the boat decoration- octopus, sea gul, shrimp, star fish, dolphin, fish.
