Queen of Bag Ladies

12"x12"x4"

Sold

Inspiration: This is about my 6th "Bag Lady".  She is different than the rest in that she sits on her pile of hand bags.  My first bag lady was commissioned in 2002 by a woman that owned a gift bag business. She was one of my first female figurative pieces.  I wanted to make this piece for our Polymer Clay Guild's show at the Bloomington Art Center in 2007.  She was shown there and then sold at the second show I brought her to.

Of course sold to a woman that collects handbags as all my other bag ladies have gone.

Technique: The most fun part of this piece is making all the different bags. The ideas are endless!  I just let my scrap pile do the work - inspiring all the shapes and colors.  I bake most of the bags on the piece as one but a few with wire handles are baked separately and added on later.
