Smoke and Mirrors
Works by Laura McCaul and Sharra Frank

Clay Squared to Infinity is pleased to bring together two of the most venerated women tile artists in the Upper Midwest, Laura McCaul and Sharra Frank. Their show, “Smoke and Mirrors”, will feature Laura’s signature smoke fired Blackware handmade tiles and Sharra’s Cinderella-esque ornately elegant mosaic mirrors.
 
Laura McCaul has reached superstar status in the tile world, and for the past five years has amassed a stunning body of work and accolades. Her work has been featured in dozens of publications, including Midwest Home and Garden, the cover of the Minneapolis Crafts Council magazine, and a feature article in Mpls/St.Paul Magazine. Laura's work is also a part of the Minnesota Historical Society's permanent collection and was featured in four episodes of the Autumn Woods series on the PBS program Hometime. Her tiles "Nuthatch" and "Blackbird in Reeds" were awarded first place in the 2002 National 21st Century Tile Exhibit, and "Two Blackbirds in Reeds" is part of the permanent collection of the Leigh Yawkee Woodson Museum. Sharra Frank is a superstar in the making. At only 27, she takes mosaics to a level of a master with the Cinderella-esque worlds she transposes on her full length mosaic mirrors. She transcends her tiny beads and found objects by creating fanciful worlds emblazoned around mirrors and other forms.
Already noticed by the international mosaic world, Sharra has been selected to exhibit her work at the Society of Mosaic Artists Annual International Juried Show.

Josh Blanc and Layl McDill are showcasing their newest work in the Infinity Gallery for the first half of 2007.
 
"One Square Foot" Juried exhibition was held in conjunction with “Tiles of the Northern Plains: Building on Tradition” National Tile Conference.
