Ages 8 to 98 will learn magical techniques with colorful oven baked clay. Roll, flatten, wrap and then slice to reveal amazing designs like stars, flowers and swirls. Then take your slices and cover anything you choose from the collection of objects including frames, jars, boxes, utensils and pins. Or make a creature like a frog or owl! The simple act of preparing a cup of tea can reveal "greatness in the smallest incidents of everyday life.”
In this class we will focus on tea ceremony as a means to foster harmony, promote a sense of peace, and
discipline the mind. Using Chinese and Japanese tea traditions as starting points we will examine the
aesthetics and philosophy of Cha Dao and it’s application in modern life.

Includes sampling of rare and artisanal teas from Michael’s tea collection and light snack.

This year marks the 39th anniversary of the College Hill Arts Festival, held on the tree-shaded campus of the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa.  The College Hill Arts Festival is a juried event of 75 artists who are chosen by a panel of three independent jurors.  A wide variety of original works including pottery, ceramics, wood, jewelry, metal sculpture, painting, photography, and glass, from some of the nation’s best and most talented artists is offered.
