Puppet Show in a Turtle

Created Fall of 2008

6"x8"x3" Sold (for $140)

Inspiration: This was my third puppet show creature.  Inside the turtle show is a fairy and a bumble bee with a flower and a chair.  Everytime I hung this piece at a show I made sure to let the fairy and bee have a little conversation usually about the lovely weather or sometimes Ms. Fairy was wishing the bumble bee would just sit down on that chair and relax a little.

Technique:  These peices are constructed with slabs of clay and filled with tissue paper.  I made the puppet show box on this one first and covered it with glitter then I built the turtle shell around it.  Before I placed the back of the shell on I filled crumbled tissue paper all around the box and a little behind it.  I made the puppetshow pieces separately and attached them with wire through holes in the shell once they were all baked.
